As a new year begins, I’ve been analyzing my posts to see what my audience of active women over 60 are reading and what topics they are most interested in.
Unlike many marketing managers who believe that older women are only interested in adult diapers or diuretics; the results are quite different.

Forget about rocking chairs, accessibility elevators, and hemorrhoid creams, we ladies are into looking good, staying fit, and having fun. And I’m glad because that’s what I’m into as well.
There was limited interest in wellness topics such as Cataracts at #29 and Coping with Dementia as a Caregiver at #37. Still, most posts that concern serious health-related topics are far down the list. That’s probably because I’m not a doctor although they involved interviews with experts, including doctors, in those fields.
I have over 650 posts that are currently active on my site. There is almost no interest in supplements or diet plans, which is what many marketers push older readers to buy. The posts I wrote about them which are not many, because I don’t like taking supplements, are at the bottom of the list.
I also post videos on YouTube and Amazon
My top 5 videos on YouTube for 2023 were:
- Why Minimal Skincare and Makeup is Best for Women Over 50
- The Classic Bikini Divas – Saba and Babs on Fitness Over 50 (They are funny)
- Solawave Wand Review | Does it Work for Women Over 50?
- A Gorgeous Siphon Coffee Maker You Will Love | Siphonysta by Tiger Review
- Why I Love My Stanley Quencher Water Bottle
My biggest sellers on Amazon have been Open Bottom Sweatpants and ShineGlitz Silver Wraps. Both are super popular.
Fashion is my number 1 most read topic
Based on my analysis, women over 50 are interested in fashion but more importantly, they want comfort. They also seek affordability and practicality. Expensive designer clothes are not important at all. Instead, they look for alternatives that look sharp at bargain prices.
On Instagram, many over 50 models are thin and have fit bodies. However, the majority of us are more average-looking and want to find clothing that will hide our flaws. Rather than purchase stilettos, older women prefer to wear comfortable shoes that don’t make us look like our grandmas.
Beauty is a close second
In my opinion, less is more when it comes to makeup for women over 50. Too much foundation, eyeshadow, and harsh lipstick make us look like we’re part of a horror show. Personally, all I wear is something to fill in my disappearing eyebrows, a little mascara, bronzer, and a rosy shade of lipstick. I wear CC Cream foundation or tinted moisturizer when I go out in the evening or for photographs.
Skincare is key but shouldn’t be complicated. Many of us are 70 plus and don’t want to bother with a 10-step beauty routine. A simple cleanser like a bar of Dove, a hydrating moisturizer like CeraVe, or an effective serum is about all we need.
Staying fit is a necessity
Women over 50 need to keep moving but prefer doing it in a way that’s fun like walking, swimming, dancing, or stretching. A great workout can be diddling in the garden. Strength training is important but can be accomplished by doing daily tasks rather than enduring torturous weight-lifting sessions.
Don’t forget the fun stuff
Older women are traveling well into their 80s and 90s. Some even love doing it solo. There is so much to see and do in the world. When you get off your couch and leave your home, you will stay fit because it forces you to move.
If you can’t afford to travel far away, find interesting and cheap things to do in your hometown. Go window shopping or people-watching, visit a museum or botanical garden, see what’s happening downtown, or take a hike.
