Watch our hilarious interview below:
They’ve been members of the film industry for decades as actors, stand-up comediennes, writers, and producers. When they met at Women in Film 26 years ago, they became instant friends.
Saba was born in New Jersey and Babs in New Orleans. but both consider themselves to be “almost” native Californians.
At one point Babs had gained weight but managed to get it off and realized she had to make lifestyle changes to maintain it. She read all the fitness magazines and decided to hold herself super accountable by entering a bikini contest. Her goal was to be back in shape in 11 months and she did it.
Saba supported her and said, “You know what? You do it and I’ll photograph it.” At the age of 56, Babs came in first place in her age category. She asked Saba to compete with her. Saba immediately said NO but Babs was persistent. At the time, Saba was in her late 60s and even though she had been classically trained in ballet when she was young and was skinny, she had lost much of her muscle tone.
Before that, she had created a fitness program called “Auto Size” that you can do in your car but didn’t know how to monetize it. Babs thought it would help if she got involved with the fitness world, so Saba finally agreed to enter the bikini contest. She took the gold and has won gold every year for the last 10 years.
The competitions led both ladies to become certified trainers so they could help others feel and look better.
To those who are older who want to get back in shape,
“Take it easy. Consistency counts.“
“Your body is a gift to you from God until you’re 50, then it’s a gift to you from yourself.“
“You’re never too old to feel good about yourself, get healthy, hang out with your grandchildren, and beat them on a walk.“
Throughout their journey, they’ve had challenges and talked about them on their show. They also give themselves cheat days. Sometimes they discover new ideas or products they tell their viewers about.
Both women support each other’s goals which helps them stay accountable. However, you can also learn to motivate yourself when you’re alone and customize your fitness routine for yourself.
Never Too Old Never Too Late covers the self-care gamut of fitness, nutrition, skin care, and lifestyle. And it doesn’t matter whether you have tons of money or are on a budget. They don’t want to leave anyone out.
The show’s mission is to teach people that you are never too old and it’s never too late to start feeling and looking better. You can do it. Everyone can.
