Just a note, I keep adding to this post whenever more insanity happens, so my thoughts may appear to be scattered in places.
It has been challenging for me lately to write about topics like fashion, beauty, and travel, especially when our world is in chaos. I will freely admit it has me in a state of horror. They are all topics I thoroughly enjoy, but sometimes I feel like I’m being superficial.
As a Baby Boomer, I have lived through many Presidents from Eisenhower to the current day. I was old enough to be affected by the assassinations of President Kennedy, his brother Bobby, and Martin Luther King. My generation protested the Vietnam War and endured violence like Kent State. However, every President presented themselves with dignity and a reverence for the rule of law until 45 and again 47 came into power.
That’s when a reality TV star with shady morals and contempt for anyone who opposed him was elected President. Many people were thrilled about him winning the election (I will never understand why), even though he denigrates women, immigrants, and anyone who opposes him. He doesn’t have a shred of empathy, and we have been subjected to endless name-calling, brutal cruelty, massive incompetence, and out-in-the-open bigotry.
Ironically, he never believed the crap he is now spewing. He was once a liberal Democrat until he realized he could make money convincing people he was not. And let’s not go into his Christian faith, which is non-existent. The man has always been a con artist ever since he got into real estate with his father. He was struggling for money when he landed “The Apprentice,” but the show made him appear to be wildly successful.
If you are an avid Fox News viewer, you may not think any of this is true, but remember, Fox News was sued for $787.5 million in a defamation settlement for spreading false information.
It is hard to know what is true and what is fake these days
Our puppet in chief has been extorting major news outlets, censoring broadcasters, and basically pissing all over our Freedom of Speech. AI has made this even worse. News stories, videos, and ads show people we trust saying things they never said. To find a news outlet with any credibility, you must do deep research to learn if a story is true or fabricated with AI.
Many reporters and pundits, who have been canceled or fired from their jobs for criticizing the administration, have moved to other platforms such as Substack. Those who remain employed act like nothing out of the ordinary is happening. They stand blank-faced as their colleagues, mostly women, are insulted and demeaned. Billionaires and others who benefit from the administration are taking over media and entertainment outlets. Even 60 Minutes is being censored.
The Congress is useless and may as well go on vacation until 47’s term is over.
Those on the side of the current President are afraid of being blacklisted if they disagree with him and go along with his proposals, even though they can’t stand him behind closed doors. The other side is calling it in. They are weak, ineffective, and without a charismatic leader.
The White House, with its East Wing demolished in the dead of winter, is now gilded in gaudy gold and looks like a cheap version of Versailles. Martha Stewart is probably laughing out loud. Meanwhile, preservation societies are suing our glitz-obsessed “decorator/President.”
RIP Jackie Kennedy’s Rose Garden, which is now an ugly piece of concrete. Heaven forbid that the proposed $300 million ballroom, which will dwarf the White House, will ever see the light of day. Federal buildings and the Kennedy Center are being obnoxiously rebranded.
So many essential institutions and law enforcement agencies have been gutted. Funding for the poor has swept them into the gutter. The ICE Gestapo has been capturing hardworking people with no crimes to their name just because they weren’t born here. Most were at their immigration appointments, following protocol and doing the right thing when they were brutally apprehended. Children are being left alone, traumatized, and mistreated. Pets have been abandoned, waiting for their owners to return, only to die of starvation.
If I see another of those detestable Kristi, the puppy killer, Noem’s TV ads asking immigrants to self-deport, I will begin throwing things at the TV.
This freak of nature has threatened to take over Greenland, and he removed Maduro in Venezuela (without an exit plan).
He F’ing bombed Iran!
Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, he bombed Iran in cahoots with Israel and mistakenly took out a girls’ school, leaving over 150 children dead. U.S. military personnel have been killed, U.S. embassies have been damaged, travelers in Dubai and other countries are panicking, and oil prices are rising. Ukraine, ravaged by Putin for the last four years, has been left in the dust.
Hey, I get it. The Ayatollah Assahola was an evil dude. But he was an 87-year-old man. The Iranian regime is responsible for funding every Middle East terror group. He and his regime needed to be removed. But the problem is, they have a complicated system that includes millions of followers and sleeper cells. Taking out the old man will do nothing. Sadly, the orange clown has no exit strategy. He is impulsive to the core. When asked, he and his administration have no answer.
He would rather talk about how he completely gilded the White House in fake gold and is in the process of redecorating buildings in Washington and building an insanely huge ballroom that will dwarf the White House.
This is not the America I always knew and loved.
As a Jew, whose family came to the United States from Russia/Poland in 1879 to escape pogroms, videos of ICE raids captured by onlookers are excruciating to watch, but they are true accounts caught live in the act. Some of these captives are being tortured in small boxes with food withheld, and mosquitoes are eating them alive. It makes me sick to think anyone of my faith tolerates this, but some are clearly going along with it gleefully.
Congresspeople attempting to do oversight on these raids are being pepper-sprayed, assaulted, and jailed.
The President has pardoned all the January 6th rioters who assaulted and maimed police, pardoned all his friends or anyone he knows who committed fraud or other crimes, and is trying to indict everyone who attempted to hold him accountable for a bevy of crimes, most of which he has weaseled out of. It’s like crime pays in this White House.
The Supreme Court is a joke.
SCOTUS has given Presidents full immunity, making it easy for this President to get away with practically everything shady. Do they realize this will apply to ALL future Presidents?
I don’t know what’s wrong with Clarence Thomas, who is a black man and an enigma. He and Alito automatically vote for whatever the President puts before them, no matter how ridiculous it is. Obviously, they have both been paid off by billionaire Harlan Crow.
Jack Smith, who was never known for being a Lib, testified that the President committed a slew of crimes and should never have been allowed to run again. But that’s what big money will do. – Elon clearly bought the election. You may disagree, but Daddy’s rallies were sparse, and he was performing insane stunts like working at McDonald’s and praising Hannibal Lecter, while his opponent was hosting huge rallies with top influencers on her side.
Have you heard anything about the would-be assassin of the President? Or the assassin who shot Charlie Kirk? I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but tell me that isn’t weird.
But that isn’t the worst of it.
A National Security Strategy has been released that will essentially change the world order. It is mandating the embrace of dictators like Putin and abandoning allies like Great Britain, France, and NATO. I remember when Republicans thought Russia was our enemy. They are selling out Ukraine, a democracy, for an authoritarian state.
It’s insane that this document was actually posted on the official White House website because it sounds like complete lunacy.
We should all be alarmed.
You may think I’m a left-wing wingnut, but I’m just someone who believes in Democracy, the rule of Law, and compassion for my fellow human beings.
The truth is, this President is just a puppet for a bigger and uglier movement. I mean, face it. He rants all night long online and falls asleep during cabinet meetings. He isn’t even healthy. He has swollen ankles and bruises on his hands. I believe he has early-onset dementia because he doesn’t speak in complete sentences. If he lasts the next 3 years, it will be a miracle.
Does Fox News show you that? Probably not because they are in cahoots with this sinister movement. Just look at how the administration is trying to gerrymander the next election because the President’s approval ratings are underwater.
We are not safe.
When you think about it, our current President was born in 1946 on the cusp of being a Baby Boomer. That’s old for a President, in my opinion. And, to be fair, our previous President was old too, but at least we could sleep at night. It’s time to hand over the reins to younger generations. I don’t mean to be ageist, just practical.
What is next to keep us from sleeping? Taking away our Social Security checks and defunding Medicare? Another insurrection? Going nuclear? It all could happen.

I apologize
I told myself I wasn’t going to post anything else political, but all this turmoil is doing combat with my creative spirit. I want things to return to normal. I am now 72, and as a Baby Boomer, I’ve seen a lot of craziness in my lifetime, but nothing as bizarre as this. It makes the 60s anti-war protests and Watergate seem tame.
Maybe you are happy in your bubble, ignoring all this craziness. Maybe you are just waiting for it to be over with. Maybe you think it’s all great, and you can’t wait until all your neighbors are removed so that everyone will be white and bland. I don’t know. I want people with a conscience to stand up and turn this thing around. I hope the midterms create accountability so that our founders are not turning over in their graves.
