As some of you know I have been writing this blog ever since November 2011, which is a heck of a long time in terms of the Internet. Still, I enjoy working on it and would love to continue for years to come. I hope you enjoy it too. I am also active on several social media platforms including YouTube.
I’ve had my channel for quite some time but didn’t get serious about it until the last few years. With so many choices of social media platforms, it can be hard to dedicate time to each of them. I have since come to realize that YouTube is worth the effort as it is where most people go to search for information and learn how-to’s. It is also a fun way to get to know a person because you see them talking as if they were in your living room.
Since the beginning, my YouTube channel was named “Baby Boomster” to coincide with this blog. However, I discovered the name wasn’t making sense to people who browse the platform looking for videos to watch. That’s why I decided to change the name. It is now called “Rebecca Over 60 | Fashion – Beauty – Lifestyle.” I am hoping to make it more personal and relatable so I can attract a larger audience.

What I discuss on my YouTube channel
The focus of my channel is to address topics that concern older women in a realistic way. For instance, unlike many fashion and beauty bloggers over 50 who have perfect figures and faces, I’m a petite apple shape with a tummy who doesn’t have a stylist, hairdresser, or makeup artist on call at my command. What you will see is an ordinary gal with imperfections like most of us who loves to look and feel her best at this age.
I also enjoy having fun, so rather than go super deep on depressing topics, my mission is to inspire, encourage, entertain, and be a force for positive aging.
If you haven’t had a chance to visit my YouTube channel yet, I post a variety of longer-form videos that feature interviews with women and some men in our demographic who have achieved accomplishments or who offer good advice to my audience. Some are authors, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, other YouTubers, and one is even a psychic.
I also started doing short and hopefully entertaining product reviews or unboxings as brands send me cool stuff to try out. It’s one of the perks of being a blogger. My goal is to show you how things work or if they are worth your time to purchase them. So far, I’ve tried a variety of products some of which I had to figure out how to use after I opened the box.
I plan to do more videos chatting about concerns we have as older women as well.
If you have any topics you would like to hear about, please write them in the comments below this post.
Please help me grow my channel
Being “found” on YouTube has been a challenge and I hope you will help me out. One way to do this is to subscribe to my channel and/or click the notification bell on the video player to receive announcements of new videos I post.
Another way is to give my videos a thumbs up and leave comments. Comments help immensely because it helps me determine what you are interested in and how to improve my videos in the future.
Right now, I’m pretty much a one-woman band working as the camera operator, editor, and presenter. I am learning as I go so please have patience with me as I am discovering tricks to make my videos more fun. The same goes for this blog. Since it launched in late 2011, I learned how to set it up myself, design and maintain it. Who says you have to be young to learn new things?
I appreciate you reading this post and I hope you will visit my YouTube channel. I just broke 100 subscribers but would love to have at least 1,000 subscribers by the end of the year. If you can help me accomplish this goal, I will truly appreciate it.
