Oatmeal is touted as one of the best breakfast foods but can sometimes be inconvenient to make unless you use instant. You must wait for the oats to cook and then clean up a sticky pot. However, I prefer cooked oatmeal rather than microwave. I found a German video on YouTube with a recipe for Oatmeal balls and loved that idea.
I tried it out and it was yummy, but I made a few modifications and adjusted the recipe for standard US measurement.
Enjoy this recipe!

Notes
Baked oat cakes and cookies are a fun alternative to oatmeal. Batches can be baked ahead of time and refrigerated. My oatmeal ball recipe only takes minutes to mix and 30 minutes to bake. All you need is a blender, a baking sheet, and parchment paper. They taste excellent with coffee, and I usually spread a little jam on top of them.
I believe this recipe beats any oatmeal bar you buy in a store because it’s all-natural, contains nuts and seeds which are high in protein, a banana for potassium, and just a dab of honey for sweetness. I keep them in the refrigerator until I am ready to eat them and lightly toast them to take the chill off. I love spreading a small dollop of fig jam on top of them or eating them with plain yogurt and fruit.
The best part is, that there is no sticky mess to clean up afterward.
An alternative variation to the above recipe is to add about 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce instead of banana and water. Be careful not to add too much, but enough to form the mixture into balls. I have also used hemp or other seeds instead of sesame seeds.
