Immersive events and other interactive art experiences are becoming more and more popular these days. Appreciating art is not limited to simply walking into a museum or gallery. Some venues host full-on happenings that can blow your mind.
Linda Fischbach is a research librarian, art authority, and founder of ArtPrivee.org which is a directory of the finest private art museums and collections in the United States. You can view some of these amazing venues in her most recent book which will be released on Sept 19, 2023.
“Extraordinary Art Experiences in America: An Insider’s Guide” (G Editions; August 15, 2023) will give you a glimpse of some of the more unconventional art venues in the U.S. that you can enjoy if you are in that area.
The book is 160 pages and can be pre-ordered now. It would make a lovely coffee table book or gift.
Fischbach’s passion for art and travel will take you on an exploration of non-traditional collections that have transformed into unique art experiences.
It is a road map for art lovers that reveals compelling niche collections from the sunny skies of St. Petersburg, Florida, to the heartland of Bentonville, Arkansas, and the picturesque landscapes of Sonoma, California.
The author is an expert in art and holds a Master’s degree in Library Science from UCLA, a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art & the Art Market from Christie’s Education, and a Certificate in American Art from Sotheby’s Institute.
If you are planning to travel within the United States you can use this resource to plan art-centered visits on your itinerary.
Some of the venues mentioned in Fischbach’s book in California that I have visited include The Broad in Downtown Los Angeles, Di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art in Napa, and the Getty Center and Villa in Los Angeles.
Art Collections in other states in the book are Chihuly Collection in St. Petersburg, FL, the Elizabeth Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Charles M. Schulz Museum in Sonoma, Transformer Station in Cleveland, and the Neue Galerie in New York City among others.
I know I will be putting some of these spaces on my bucket list.

Thanks. I love museums, art shows, and art galleries. My daughter lives in Madrid, and, in addition, to the museums, there often are art shows at city hall and some corporate buildings.
Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski says
So good to know, Rita. I love Madrid, by the way! The Prada is awesome!

Went to the Getty Museum last time we were in L.A. and loved it! For me, the city is interesting in itself, wherever I go.
Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski says
I love going to the Getty and you are right about L.A. being interesting.
