I love October. The heat of the summer has lessened as much as it can in Los Angeles, and funny as well as scary decorations are appearing on people’s lawns. It’s also a time to celebrate the harvest whether it’s wine, pumpkins, or corn stalks. I’ll drink to that.
Our Baby Boomer Bloggers are reflecting on what’s happening around them and how they are feeling these days. You can read their thoughts in the posts below.
Carol Cassara
The past wasn’t perfect, but for Carol Cassara, thinking back to a more innocent time can be a safe harbor. One way she is instantly transported is by the slang and terminology from way back in the day. Over on her blog this week she calls out some of her favorites and asks us to comment with our own!
Diane Tolley
Diane was raised on a cattle ranch in Southern Alberta. A great place to grow up.
As long as you do. Grow up, that is.
Daily, there are opportunities to stop the whole procedure.
It gave Diane a lovely 2-inch scar on her chin.
It could have been so much worse…
Laurie Stone
Many of us know that feeling, including Laurie Stone. We start reading today’s headlines with their endless litany of destruction, hatred, and war. We feel almost ill. Our pulse quickens and stomach tightens. We get depressed and anxious. Does this happen to you? If so, you might be an Empath. Here are 3 ways to tell…
Rita R. Robison
Check for bargains on Halloween items at stores such as Kohl’s and Target and online at Amazon, advises Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist. If you need ideas on a costume, see Robison’s lists of the most popular costumes this year.
Meryl Baer
We never know what a new day will bring. Wandering her hometown business street, Meryl Baer of Beach Boomer Bulletin unwittingly became the first customer at a new cafe in town. What an honor! As she tells us in this week’s post, New Store in Town.
And then there’s me
For the last 4 weeks, I’ve been cat sitting for a stray cat and have 2 weeks left to go before I can sleep in my own bed and talk to other humans. For several of those days, I’ve also been doing double duty watching my daughter’s dog.
The cat has finally decided she likes me and lets me pet her and rub her tummy. I’m hoping she will become an indoor cat when her people get back because outdoor cats in the city live on borrowed time.
Since the cat only appears at dawn and dusk, I’ve been finding things to do in the area to keep busy. I’ve walked around urban lakes, gone to an art gallery opening, and spent a few hours at a Pumpkin Festival.
Don’t be afraid to share what you’ve read
