I’ve been dog-sitting for my daughter who went to Europe for two weeks across town from where I live and I’m really getting a workout. I believe dog-aerobics is one of the best types of exercise for people who are over 60 because dogs keep you active.
My daughter has a 1 ½-year-old chihuahua mix with only one eye who has boundless energy. He has me throwing a ball every 5 minutes and we go on 4 walks a day. So far, I’ve averaged around 8,000 steps per day and sometimes much more if I take myself on an excursion for my L.A. travel blog.
He’s just the right size for me although chihuahuas can get under your feet and trip you if you aren’t careful. I can’t get a dog for myself right now because I’m still paying vet bills for my last two so dog-sitting gives me my doggie fix. But seriously, if you have an active dog, who needs a gym?
Meanwhile, our Baby Boomer bloggers have been enjoying Spring and writing about all sorts of topics including aging.
Oh, and I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Carol Cassara
Aging is inescapable, Carol Cassara points out in her blog, no matter how we resist it. She’s noticed that so many resent that age requires us to give things up when a change of viewpoint might be more useful.
Diane Tolley
Once a month, Diane writes a story from the life of two fictional sisters, Irish twins, Sally and Gwen Hart.
Sally is a bit ‘larger than life’, and Gwen happily narrates.
Usually.
This time, though, Gwen is front and center, so to speak.
Laurie Stone
Laurie’s mom is 86 and you’d be hard-pressed to find a fitter, more adorable, and adroit senior citizen. “I can’t believe her age!” is a line heard often. And although having sturdy Irish genes never hurt, there are eight non-negotiables in her silver-haired mother’s life, which no doubt help her stay fit, strong, and yes, young…
Rita R. Robison
Even though the United States and World Health Organization have ended their covid-19 health emergencies on public health and safety, it doesn’t mean the covid-19 pandemic is over. In “Is the Pandemic Really Over?”, Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist, offers suggestions on what you need to do to continue to protect yourself from getting covid and who’s most at risk.

That dog sounds so amazing, Rebecca!
He’s fun and very very fast, Carol.
Thanks for sharing this week, Rebecca!
You are welcome, Jennifer!
Yep. Our doggins keeps us moving! And I’m so grateful!
Great post, Rebecca!
They sure do, Diane!
Nice job, Rebecca! I know what it’s like to need a doggie fix. I can ship you a mischievous little Yorkie whenever you need one.
Thanks, Laurie. Sounds fun!
