Although I know nothing about football, I hope you enjoyed your Super Bowl Sunday. I was busy during the weekend driving all over Southern California. I drove from Pasadena to Fallbrook near San Diego for a party and then to Newport Beach to meet up with my daughter and stay the night. She got engaged while I was there and will have a wedding in Cabo next January. My son is also getting married in Santa Cruz in November so it will be a fun and exciting year!
Destination weddings are a big thing with Millennials which is fine with me. However, now I must explain to some aunts and uncles why the guest list is cut back because the kids are paying for the festivities. They are both in their thirties with successful careers. I wish I could pitch in, but my life took several turns in the last 20 years making that difficult.
Meanwhile, our Baby Boomer bloggers have been busy writing about what is going on in their lives.
Carol Cassara
One thing about being in our cohort is that the losses are continuing to mount up. Over on her blog this week, Carol Cassara is talking about her strangely unemotional response to the passing of a loved one and wonders, “Have I Cried My Last Tear?”
Diane Tolley
For over 20 years, Diane’s family ran a family DJ business, catering to families.
Their experiences were many and varied.
One, in particular, stands out…
Rita R Robison
Where should you donate your clothes? Goodwill, local homeless shelters, or retail stores such as H&M? Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist, takes a look at the used clothing issue, which is getting more attention due to fast fashion and tons of textile waste clogging landfills.
Laurie Stone
It started out as an ordinary night. Laurie Stone’s dog Libby needed to go outside around 10:00 p.m. (Yes, she does that sometimes). Laurie sighed, getting up from her comfortable bed where she’d been watching ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ on Netflix. She noticed Libby seemed especially frantic about getting out the door, yipping, circling, and doing her high-pitched aria as Laurie put on her leash. Libby zoomed outside. That’s when Laurie smelled it.
Meryl Baer
Getting back to normal following a health setback takes time. Old folks don’t bounce back the way younger generations can. Meryl Baer of Beach Boomer Bulletin has spent weeks in recovery mode. She tells us about her current limited lifestyle in this week’s post, The Season of Coffee Couch and Computer.
And me
A friend on Facebook is going through hell right now because her partner is in the hospital with a life-threatening MRSA infection. She has been on life support for three weeks and it doesn’t look good. I wrote about why we need to take this superbug very seriously because even a tiny cut can let it into your bloodstream.

Pennie Nichols says
Destination weddings are fun but exclude so many for a variety of reasons. I hope you have a beautiful experience with your children’s weddings.
Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski says
So true, Pennie. But it is what they want and both sound like fun. We will find a way to work it out.
Diane says
I guess you missed my email, Rebecca!
I did send it right after I got yours…
Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski says
I ditzed out, Diane. Hadn’t finished my coffee yet but it is now fixed. Apologies.
Jennifer says
My niece, who lives in Massachusetts, decided to do a Miami destination wedding to have a smaller wedding. She was surprised by how many friends, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins actually came for the wedding. I’m sure both weddings will be beautiful and fun. Thanks for sharing all our posts.
Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski says
Thanks, Jennifer. I’m looking forward to all the celebrations.
