The Best Tunic Tops for Ladies Who Have a Belly

by Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski Leave a Comment

If you’re like me and have a muffin top, it may be difficult to find tops that fit, look stylish, and don’t make you look pregnant. One option is a tunic top because it hides your belly and can be flattering.

Tunics are even better with an uneven hemline as they can show off narrow hips which are common with ladies who carry their weight in their tummies. They are called apple shapes.

I prefer my tunic tops with a v-neck or open neck because it makes it look less boxy especially because I have boobage.

A tunic in a geometrical pattern helps disguise a large tummy area. This Charter Club pleated neck top from Macy’s has ¾ inch sleeves, an asymmetrical hem, and a v-neck.

A tank top is always a nice item to add to your wardrobe when the weather gets warm. I found this eyelet design tank tunic top with a v-neck on Amazon that can be worn out or tucked in. It’s ultra-light and super comfortable. I love that it gives me plenty of room for my muffin top and looks great over narrow jeans or leggings.

Here is another cute tunic top I found on Amazon from Blooming Jelly. It comes in many colors and patterns. I love the neckline, cap sleeves, and figure-flattering pleats.

Vertical striped tunic tops are also a great way to disguise a bulging belly.

Peplum tops are another good choice.

What to avoid when shopping for a tunic

I’m 5’2” which is petite so when I look for a tunic top, I don’t want one that is too long, as it makes me look shorter. If you are tall, a longer top can look elegant.

Stick to smaller prints and solids especially if you are short. They can overwhelm you.

Stay away from boxy or super full tunics. They can significantly add to your bulk.

The hem of your tunic should not land at the widest part of your hips or it will make you look wider.

For ultimate elegance, this silk tunic top from LilySilk is divine.
