I’m often introduced to numerous beauty devices that promise to smooth out wrinkles, add collagen to the skin, aid in hair loss, and address other cosmetic concerns. They are intended for use at home, but some are better than others.
A beauty device is often a wand or gadget that you charge up and use on your face. Several kinds of at-home therapeutic devices can be used to achieve these results.
As an older woman over 60 with skincare flaws, I wanted to see if they really worked for me. Below are some of the skin and haircare tools I believe are worth considering.
Laser beauty treatments
Jovs 4D Laser Light Therapy Mask
Laser beauty therapy is 6x more effective than LED skincare devices. The Jovs 4D Laser Light Therapy Mask is a 4-in-1 skincare solution. It effectively reduces wrinkles and fine lines, increases firmness, creates visible improvement in dark circles and skin brightening, and calms redness.
The device is made with a patented nanomolecular food-grade silicone and does not irritate sensitive skin. It has a hands-free, remote control with a clip and velcro straps designed to fit on any size face.

MimiSilk Iris Skin Renewing Device
The MimiSilk Skin Renewing Device is 200 times more powerful than LED. It has a 1450 nanometer wavelength and employs Nano Matrix Patented Fractional Laser Technology. MimiSilk is a Danish company.
What it does is increase natural collagen production in your skin within 60 days.
This award-winning device has 5 intelligent zones that can be clicked on in various areas of your face. It is FDA and CE-cleared and is safe for all skin types. 83% of women have seen results from using this.
It has a child lock for safety.
To use it, cleanse your face and use it on bare skin without any skincare products on it. Move it in horizontal and vertical directions, but avoid the eye area. It has three levels of power. It’s best to start with gentle power and increase it over time.
The company suggests using it 3-4 times a week and then taking a break for 4 weeks before starting again.

Red light therapy devices
Red Light Therapy exposes you to low doses of red or near-infrared light that generates heat. Its purpose is to repair skin, boost new cell growth, and enhance and rejuvenate the skin. This technology has been used in medical and scientific fields for decades. When choosing a red-light therapy device, look for FDA approval, single-color LEDs, price, and wavelengths in the 630nm range. These devices are safe to use at their recommended doses.
INIA GLOW Wireless Red Light Therapy Facial Mask and Neck and Chest Mask
The INIA Glow Mask has 272 LED lights that will give you clinical-level energy for real visible results! What makes this mask so unique is that it works with Pro Level Power and Tech. It has an 850-nanometer wavelength, which penetrates deep into the skin to stimulate collagen production—a feature many other brands’ red light products cannot achieve.
Most of these masks are over $300, but this one is now under $150.
It has 4 targeted light modes.
- The red lights boost the collagen in your skin to smooth lines and wrinkles.
- The blue lights help fight acne and breakouts.
- The orange lights calm redness and even out skin tone.
- And the purple lights, which are a combination of the red and blue lights, are anti-aging and anti-acne all in one!
The mask works with dual magnetic batteries that you can snap on and swap in seconds and they’ll give you 90 minutes of total usage. What’s great is that you can move around wearing it while you cook, scroll, or relax.
It’s made of medical-grade silicone, and it’s soft and flexible. It has a built-in eye shield, so it’s safe and comfortable to use, and it’s FDA cleared for safety.

Solawave 4-in1 Radiant Renewal Skincare Wand
The Solawave 4-in-1 Radiant Renewal Skincare Wand is a portable device that has been trending on social media. It’s about as big as a toothbrush and easy to take with you when you travel. The wand combines four non-invasive skincare treatments that include red light therapy, galvanic current, facial massage, and therapeutic warmth.
Once you charge the device in a USB outlet and are ready to use it, apply a water-based serum or moisturizer to your face as a conductor. Turn on the wand and glide it in upward movements on your face. After you are done, smooth on your favorite moisturizer. Be careful not to leave the wand in one position on your face for more than a few seconds.
I found that the facial massage and therapeutic warmth modes on this device are most beneficial to me as a woman over 60. Both therapies increase collagen production, restoring radiance to the skin and reducing puffiness.
The Solawave 4-in-1 device can also help to smooth out a bad Botox treatment over time. I keep seeing monsterly and over-Botoxed faces on older actresses on TV, so this is a good thing.
The device comes with a 100% guarantee, and you can get a full refund within 30 days of purchase if you are not satisfied. I especially like it because it is portable and easy to use anywhere.

Microcurrent technology
ZIIP Halo beauty device
The Zipp Halo is a microcurrent device combined with nanocurrent technology to lift, tone, and rejuvenate the skin, delivering results like a professional facial.
I love that it is non-invasive and non-irritating as it works to give me a radiant complexion. You know! All those unlovely things happen to your face as you age, like forehead wrinkles, sagging jowls, and undereye creases.

LaDuora Duo Scalp and Haircare Device
The LaDuora Duo is a 4-in-1 pod-based scalp and haircare device that utilizes red light therapy. It will give your scalp a gentle and relaxing massage as well as electrical stimulation that increases circulation to encourage hair growth. It is used with a pod of liquid ingredients that rejuvenate and nourish your hair. I love the massage aspect of it as well as the scalp treatment. If I had headaches, I believe it would be helpful as well.

Radio Frequency devices for skincare
Radio Frequency beauty treatments focus on repairing and renewing the epidermis to make it appear tighter, firmer, and plumper. At-home treatments deliver low-frequency magnetic waves that generate heat. This stimulates new skin cell production as well as collagen and elastin.
Nebulyft RFMEMS Beauty Device
I have been using my Nebulyft RFMEMS Beauty Device for a while now. It works with radio frequency for anti-aging and skin tightening, and erases eye bags, wrinkles, and acne marks. You can combine it with red light therapy or micro-needling, but not with Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) or laser therapy.
The Nebulyft requires a water-based serum or moisturizer as a conductor and comes with its own gel. However, you can also use your favorite serum. When you first begin to use it, adjust the settings to level 1 or 2. You can raise the level if your skin is not sensitive, but it is not necessary. Keep moving it around your face to prevent a burn. I have never found it to be too hot, but I keep the setting low just in case.
Each treatment takes about 10 minutes. The company states that you can use it every day, but skin care experts online recommend using it about twice a month.
If you compare the cost to how much you would spend at an esthetician’s office, it will pay off in the long run.
