LeMuse: How a Small Handmade Linen Fashion Company From Lithuania Has Gone International

by Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski Leave a Comment

As the daughter of a dressmaker, I appreciate handmade clothing. LeMuse is a company based in Vilnius, Lithuania, that specializes in relaxed, minimalist clothing made from natural fabrics. Because flax and linen have a long cultural tradition in the Baltic region, linen has become a signature part of the LeMuse collection.

The company was founded in 2010 by designer Lina Pliuraitė, inspired by her grandmother, who was a dressmaker. Her designs were first sold on Etsy, where they developed a loyal customer following that included international customers.

It started with a small-scale approach to production, working with local Lithuanian sewing studios, some with only three people who had extensive experience in sewing linen, cotton, and woolen garments.

LeMuse was acquired by the holding company At Hold in 2024 and is now being led by CEO Svetlana Ziubrovskienė. Its current focus is stone-washed European linen dresses and expanding its international business.

The emphasis is on natural fabrics that stand the test of time rather than on chasing fast-fashion trends. It can be best described as slow fashion.

My Sun Linen Dress

The company gifted me one of their lovely dresses. It is called the SUN-V-Neck Stonewashed Linen Dress and is one of LeMuse’s most popular styles. The dress is handmade in Lithuania from stone-washed linen.

The process of stonewashing softens the linen, giving it a relaxed and comfortable texture. To be specific, the dress is 87% stone-washed European linen and 13% cotton. Custom orders can be accommodated if requested. I have a tummy and was elated that the dress fits me perfectly.

I love its A-line design. It’s figure-forgiving and will work well for a real woman’s figure. The dress has a simple elegance about it, making it appropriate for casual as well as formal affairs. I could see it being worn at a resort, a lunch with friends, or a stylish party. The little bow at the tip of the V-neck is an elegant and feminine touch. The 3/4 sleeve length is perfect to cover up my saggy arms.

Sometimes linen clothing can look frumpy, but this dress and all the clothing in the LeMuse Collection are perfect for women of any age who enjoy comfort and still want to look stylish.
