Experience Serenity With Japanese Skincare Products in 2025

by Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski Leave a Comment

I was given some Japanese skincare products to try and I was impressed by them. Products derived from Japan tend to use ingredients that come from nature, contain antioxidants, and are hydrating. Scents are often derived from organic sources such as Hinoki which is a forest oil that reduces inflammation and heals irritated skin.

Embracing the philosophy of Kirei

MyKirei by Kao offers a collection of products that are inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Kirei. The word “Kirei” means clean, or beautiful. A Kirei lifestyle is filled with compassion and nurtures a sense of peace and tranquility.

Two of the products I was given from MyKirei by Kao were a pair of foaming hand soaps. They are designed to encourage kids to wash their hands more often, but I found them to be fun as well. Yuzu Flower Hand Wash has a design in the pump that forms a flower in your hand. Paw Print Foam Hand Wash creates a cute dog or cat paw print and is great for pet lovers.

Both foam hand washes are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. They are infused with vitamin C-rich Japanese Yuzu fruit extract which has a natural citrus-like scent and soothing rice water. The bottles are attractive to set on your bathroom or kitchen countertops.

I also tried MyKirei by Kao’s Soothing Mineral Bath Soak and a Soothing Steam Eye Mask.

Both come with a Japanese Hinoki Oil Scent.  Their purpose is to Calm | Relax | Renew.

I especially loved the Soothing Eye Mask which activates and warms up as soon as you take it out of its packet. It’s perfect to use right before you go to bed or take a nap, while you are traveling, or after watching a computer or TV screen for too long.

Soothing Bath Soak helps to relieve tired feet or achy muscles, ease tension, and help you sleep.

For those with sensitive skin

Curel is a Japanese skincare brand as well that is designed for dry and sensitive skin. Deep Moisture Spray comes in an aerosol can.  It is a fragrance-free mist that you can spray on your face when you need more hydration, and it works with bare skin as well as full makeup. This is particularly useful if you live in a dry climate.

The spray is super fine and will give you a youthful glow. It is dermatologically tested and does not contain alcohol or other harmful ingredients. The formula includes a small amount of eucalyptus leaf and arginine.

Japanese skincare for aging skin

Other Japanese skincare products that work well for older women are Attenir Clear Cleanse Oil, Shiseido Vital Perfection LiftDefine Radiance Serum, Biore UV Aqua Rich Sunscreen with SPF 50,  and DHC Deep Cleansing Oil.
