In a previous post, I introduced you to The Landings Club, a private luxury club in a gated community called The Landings, located in Savannah on Skidaway Island. Members of The Landings Club have exclusive amenities and privileges which include a variety of activities, including 6 top-rated golf courses, a newly-renovated wellness center, clubhouses with various dining options, and much more.
I was able to have an exclusive interview with Colleen Bibby, a member of The Landings Club, to find out what her experience has been like.
If you’re looking for a fabulous place to live in retirement, where you can enjoy luxury and a variety of amenities, please consider The Landings and join The Landings Club. It’s not strictly a senior community. People of all ages live there, and it’s very family-friendly.

I would like to thank Colleen for being so open and responsive to my questions. Here’s what she had to say.
1. Can you give me a little background about yourself such as where you lived before and your occupation?
After moving to Savannah my junior year in high school, I decided to stay in Georgia to attend college. I earned a bachelor’s degree at Georgia Southern University. I then went on to Georgia State University for my master’s. I moved to Atlanta after college, where I lived and worked as a teacher for 9 years.
I met my husband while in Atlanta and got married while living there. We decided we were ready to start a family and decided to move back to Savannah to be close to my family.
2. How long have you lived in The Landings and what was the reason you decided to move there?
When we decided to move to Savannah, we were deciding between living in downtown Savannah or The Landings. We originally explored downtown and then we looked at The Landings. After looking at The Landings, there was no doubt in our minds that we would be moving here rather than downtown.
Safety was our biggest reason for moving to The Landings, as we were planning to have a family. We also fell in love with the natural beauty of the island, as well as the lifestyle The Landings community and The Landings Club offers.
3. What type of home do you live in there? Large home, townhouse, or other?
We live in an approximately 5,000 square foot single-family home on 3/4 of an acre with views of saltwater lagoons and the marsh.
4. What is your favorite activity that you take part in there?
It is difficult to select a favorite activity. There are so many to choose from. I really enjoy the fitness center with its vast array of classes and equipment for individual workouts. The ability to go to the Deck for a casual get together is also extremely appealing and enjoyable. The staff at the Deck is top-notch. It is so nice to walk in and have the staff know you by name.
As far as events, July 4, the Cardboard Boat Race, and Halloween at The Landings are events that should not be missed.
5. What do you most enjoy about the people who live there?
Many people here are transplants from other areas. This makes them open to meeting new people and experiencing all that The Landings has to offer.
6. Have you joined any groups there? Which ones and why?
After having children, I was a member of The Landings Young Mother’s Group. That group provided support and companionship when my children were young. We have since moved on. My husband and I are members of The Landings Kayaking Club.
7. How would you rate the support services in the area such as medical care?
Savannah offers top-notch medical support. We have used the physical therapy services housed at The Landings Wellness Center as well as the services in the Village at Skidaway. I would recommend both groups.
8. What does your immediate or extended family think of The Landings Club? What are their favorite activities?
Family members are always more than happy to visit us and love for us to show them around The Landings. Visitors are always going on about the beauty of The Landings and the amenities of the club. A golf cart ride to the gazebo to check for wild dolphins is always a highlight.
9. Is there anything you would like to add that you feel readers would like to know about?
The Landings is a special place, one like I have never experienced anywhere else. It has a wide range of activities and people. There is such a wide range of offerings that there is truly something for everyone. I would not want to live anywhere else.
You never know. You may find yourself packing up and moving there.
