If you’re a Baby Boomer who regularly takes prescription medicine or a caregiver for someone who does, then this post is for you. CVS Pharmacy has implemented a new prescription management system called Scriptpath that will make it easier for you to keep track of your dosing instructions and assure you are taking your meds correctly.
CVS Prescription Management System features
Take advantage of CVS Pharmacy’s newly released Prescription Schedule. This includes your prescription information and details on how to take your medicine, when you should take it, and how much. You’ll find easy-to-understand refill instructions and notes specific to your case.
They have installed a state-of-the-art system that will automatically review all of your meds and doctor’s instructions. It will also provide you with a schedule of the best times to take each dose separated into four dosing times. (morning, midday, evening, and bedtime)
ScriptPath Prescription Schedule
The ScriptPath Prescription Schedule is now available at all CVS Pharmacies. Simply put in a request to your pharmacist. If you take more than five medications in a day, you are also eligible for a consultation with your pharmacist when you pick up your prescriptions.
If you have any questions or concerns about the ScriptPath program, make sure to talk to your pharmacist about it.
Prescription Label rollout
A new Prescription Label is scheduled for rollout later in 2018. Instructions will be easier to read and it will have larger text, (great for Baby Boomers and seniors) as well as color-coded icons with suggestions of the best times for dosing.
Services and Online Tools
The mission of CVS Pharmacy is to help patients manage their prescriptions and also improve their overall health outcomes. That’s why they’ve instituted pharmacy counseling services and medication outreach programs. To make it even more convenient, you can manage your prescriptions online on their website or by using the CVS Pharmacy mobile app. That way, you have prescription management at your fingertips.
Here’s what is included in the app:
- Drug Interaction Checker: This will help make sure your medication will not give you potentially adverse reactions.
- Pill Identifier: If you get some of your pills mixed up, this helps to identify them.
- Refill Prescriptions: You can import your prescriptions for a refill from their secure medication history or click “Scan to Refill” to scan your medication’s barcode and order in one step.
- MedRemind: Easily set notifications to remind yourself when it’s time to take a pill or to let you know if someone in your care has missed theirs. Customize it to your needs.
How the ScriptPath program will benefit you
I’ve been lucky so far not to have to take any medications but have had to help manage the medications of my parents, husband, and other loved ones. At one point, my dad had to take 18 pills every day. It was insane! Can you imagine what it must be like for people who are ill and don’t have help at home? If that were me, I’d want to give up if I didn’t have some type of system to keep my pills organized.
The ScriptPath Program protects you from taking the wrong doses and helps manage medication confusion. If that’s something you need, head over to your nearest CVS Pharmacy and talk to your pharmacist today.
I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy to help spread the word about #BetterHealthMadeEasy, how to #FindYourHealthy and #DiscoverCVS. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified with CVS.com or with appropriate manufacturers.
Thank you CVS and thank you Rebecca for telling us about this! I shop at CVS and will be on the watch for it. While I think I’m young enough not to need some of these things, I’ll be happy to have them. Brenda
So glad you shop at CVS and hope their services come in handy for you.
This is very cool. I wrote a piece for Walgreens about six months ago. Competition is the name of the game when and if it helps consumers.
So true, Beth. It’s always great when companies offer valuable services for their customers.
This sounds wonderful except that the senior I am a caregiver for has to use Walgreens (requirement of her Medicare Part D). The “when best to take it” is something I’ve never run across before at the pharmacies family members deal with.
That happens sometimes. It always depends on the type of insurance a person has. I love that CVS will have the “when best to take it” feature. So helpful!
