Ease the Pain of Peripheral Neuropathy with TENS Technology

November 13, 2018 by Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski 2 Comments

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and one of the symptoms is peripheral neuropathy. It is caused by nerve damage, and result in intense pins and needles sensation in your feet or hands, making them feel weak or numb. Some people experience sharp agonizing pain.  Doctors typically prescribe pain medication, but TENS technology is also effective and is a drug-free solution.

Rather than take drugs, you can ease the pain of peripheral neuropathy using TENS technology. #pain #OmronHealthcare #ad #drugfree

This is my 3rd and final post about my experience using the Omron Avail wireless TENS device. I’m working in partnership with Omron Healthcare and they gave me one of their devices to test.  Since I’ve been using it, my lower legs and feet no longer feel achy.

I don’t have neuropathy, but my significant other does. He had several rounds of chemotherapy a few years back for a non-aggressive lymphoma and has suffered from neuropathy ever since. It was excruciating, and he had to go on drugs to ease his pain. After a while, he got tired of taking his meds and was concerned about becoming addicted to them. He found a chiropractor who had a TENS machine and after just a few treatments, he was able to cut down his medication to just 1 pill a day as opposed to 4 times a day.

Even though it was effective it still meant he had to drive to the chiropractor’s office and deal with his insurance company to cover the treatments. The Omron Avail wireless TENS device, that I’ve been testing out can be used in the comfort of your own home anytime you want.  There’s no prescription or doctor’s supervision required. It’s a Godsend because the last thing you want to do if you’re in pain is get in the car, sit in traffic, and then wait around until your doctor arrives.

If you keep your Omron Avail wireless TENS devices charged up you can whip them out, fire up the mobile app and get instant relief in minutes. It doesn’t matter if you have chronic pain, or just an occasional twinge now and then.

So far, I’ve been blessed to have very few aches and pains. The reason may be that I always strive to eat healthy food and walk every day.  When you move your body regularly it’s the best way to stay limber and pain-free. However, as Ruth Bader Ginsburg found out the other day, you don’t know when you’re going to trip over something, sleep in the wrong position, or workout too hard. Pain is a reality in everyday life and becomes even more common as we age.

My summary of the Omron Avail wireless TENS device

Some people have the misconception that because TENS technology works with electrical charges, they’ll feel like they’re being electrocuted. That isn’t the case at all. You can adjust the device to whatever level feels comfortable. Even at the highest intensity, it feels more like you’re having a massage. You can also set the mobile app to various types of therapies depending on your preference.

Strap on your devices (there are 2 available) and let them do the work while you’re sitting on the couch, walking around, or eating lunch. Unlike pain pills, you won’t have to jump in your car and buy refills to get relief.

So, what’s stopping you from buying one for yourself?  If you’re ready to get started, click here.
