Does it Seem Like Mercury is Always in Retrograde?

November 18, 2020 by Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski 3 Comments

I don’t follow astrology religiously but sometimes it’s fun. We hear over and over that Mercury is in retrograde meaning things don’t work, it’s not a good time to start new ventures, and the world goes wacko. I know people who won’t go out of their house when it’s occurring.

Mercury in retrograde

What is Mercury in retrograde?

Four times during the year Mercury, which is the closest planet to the sun, appears like it’s going backward. (east to west, rather than west to east) It doesn’t really. It’s actually just an illusion. Other planets do the same thing but, because Mercury is so visible from Earth, we like to blame our misfortunes on its occurrence.

A crazy year we can all blame on the planets

The pandemic was a Queen Bitch for most of us. So much of it was nuts and it was global. Add to that hurricanes, floods, blizzards, and whatever the heck a derecho is.

Many of us experienced personal losses during that time including me. My boyfriend and both of my dogs died, my websites were hacked (they’re fine now), my phone died and had to be replaced, my computer died and had to be replaced, I moved twice and I found out I needed cataract surgery.

I can chalk it all up to getting older, but I’d much rather blame it on Mercury in retrograde.

The world has been going a little crazy too, but I won’t even get into that.

Things will only get better, right?

I like to think of myself as an optimist who sees the good side of things even when I’m being punched in the face. We all need to adopt a positive attitude and give gratitude for the good things we have. But it’s still fun to blame Mercury every once in a while.

How has your year been so far? Has Mercury been in retrograde for you? Please leave a comment below.

Love that despite all the retrograde crap, you’re thankful for your health 🙂
