Missing Thanksgiving before a trip abroad is always hard so before I left for Italy, my daughter, sister, and I decided to meet up for a quick weekend in Palm Springs. It had to be dog-friendly, though, because we brought along a couple of pooches on the trip.
Palm Springs is a dog-friendly town
Our hotel – Plaza Resort and Spa, has a doggie area in front of the hotel on the lawn and was listed as a dog-friendly hotel on BringFido.com. It’s not a particularly fancy resort but was affordable, clean, attractive, and relaxing.
Many of Palm Spring’s outdoor cafes are dog-friendly as well, and let you bring your pooch along. We ate at the Fisherman’s Market and Grill for dinner and Peabody’s for brunch. Both were excellent and the dogs hung out with us!
We all had massages at the hotel’s spa, which was essentially a small room at the resort. The therapists were great and it didn’t cost a mint, like it would in a high-end hotel. Both my daughter and I have massages whenever we can, but my sister hadn’t had one in years. She was in bliss.
Our weekend in Palm Springs was one of those getaways where the best part of it was not doing much at all. It was only an overnight stay but gave us a chance to connect and relax.
I love towns that are friendly for dogs so they can enjoy a relaxing vacation too. It’s up to the humans to make sure doggie droppings end up in the trash or poop cans but they do not always obey. Bad humans. Good doggies!
